Economic Development exists to further develop the East Riding's assets and focus resources to attract and retain competitive businesses that are capable of strong growth in a global, knowledge-based economy through means that are environmentally sustainable, which develop a responsive and suitably skilled workforce and that contribute to raising the Humber's profile regionally, nationally and internationally.
Economic Development is comprised of 3 service areas:
Business Investment
- Work with partners to enhance the East Riding as a location to invest in, and secure interest from companies for investment projects across the East Riding.
- Increase the number of business starts in the region and provide comprehensive support for new and existing businesses.
Regeneration and Funding
- Develop strategies, co-ordinate and secure funding for East Riding regeneration/renaissance programmes to revitalise vulnerable areas facing the biggest problems of market failure.
- Co-ordinate strategic external funding across the East Riding L.S.P. with funding agencies, and provide an expert advice service to enable partners to access external funding.
Labour Market Development
- Contribute to reducing labour market disadvantage for East Riding residents with the aid of externally funded projects to provide none-mainstream advice, support and training.
- Identify skills needs amongst residents and businesses and support them in gaining skills and qualifications to better place them in the labour market.
