The school admissions team deals with admissions to schools for the normal admissions round and for in-year admissions.

Normal admissions round

Normal admissions round is when a child is starting school in the reception year for the first time, or transferring from an infant to a junior school, or from a junior or primary school to a secondary school.

In-year admissions

In-year admissions are where a child transfers from one school to another during the school year, or at any time other than the normal transfer to junior or secondary school.

Nursery admissions

Admissions to nursery schools and school sixth forms are managed by individual schools and you should therefore contact the school direct. You can use the catchment area finder below to find your nearest school.

Special educational needs

If your child has a statement of special educational needs, there is a separate statutory admissions process and you should contact the special education needs team on (01482) 392164.

Applying for a school place

To make an application for a school place for September 2010 in the normal admissions round:

Please note: You can only apply online for primary school places for September 2010 between 8 September 2009 and 6 November 2009 and for secondary school places for September 2010 between 1 September 2009 and 23 October 2009. After these dates you will have to submit an 'in-year' school application form.
