What we do

The youth service provides a range of activities and facilities throughout the East Riding in youth centres and clubs, and through detached (street-based) youth work and specialist projects. It provides:

• things to do, places to go and people to talk to


• opportunities for volunteering


• information, advice and guidance


• support and programmes for vulnerable young people

Advice and support to voluntary youth and community groups and organisations is available.

Is there a cost involved?

Some activities are free of charge but most youth centres will make a small charge to attend.

Whats on offer

Young people have an opportunity to get involved in a variety of activities, including dance, drama, music, sport, outdoor pursuits, community and voluntary work.

The Duke of Edinburgh's Award

You can also gain recognition of your achievements through accreditation such as Youth Achievement Awards and the Duke of Edinburgh`s Award. To find out more link to the D of E website.

Youth Assembly and participation

There is the opportunity to get involved with Youth Councils and forums in the East Riding and to have your say on a wide range of topics and issues through the UK Youth Parliament. To register your interest in becoming a member of your local youth forum or the Youth Assembly, you can complete the on-line Youth Assembly enquiry form.

Voluntary Youth Work

Detached Youth Work

Detached youth work has the same values of other styles of building based youth provision without the constraints of a building. It attracts young people who may not be able to or want to access statutory or voluntary sector provision. It reaches young people who may not want to access accept the rules of a building based services and may be excluded from other statutory and non statutory services.
