Service Outline Concessionary travel is available on local buses within the East Riding and to certain places outside of the area e.g. Hull. The concession is available to the over 60s and to certain categories of people with disabilities. Please contact passenger services for further information. Free travel is also available on rail services to holders of free disabled travel passes only.

Geographical Area Early Bird Bus Passes
Bus journeys made within the whole area of the East Riding, Hull city and across boundary to Doncaster, Malton, Pontefract, Scarborough, Selby and York.

To qualify a journey must be either wholly within the East Riding or Hull or have a start or finish point within the East Riding.

Passes are only valid on bus services before 0930 and after 2300 Monday to Friday. At all other times the National Free Pass must be used.

Rail journeys (Free Travel Pass Holders Only), passes will be valid on rail journeys made between any station in the East Riding (including Hull Paragon Station) and any other station in the East Riding, or any of the following stations, providing the journey starts or finishes in the East Riding or at Hull Paragon: Doncaster, Filey, Hensall, Hull, Hunmanby, Kirk Sandall, Knottingley, Malton, Pontefract, Scarborough, Seamer, Selby, Stainforth & Hatfield, Thorne North, Whitley Bridge and York.

Passes are ONLY valid on trains due to depart after 0930 Monday to Friday and any train at weekends and Bank Holidays.

Senior Citizens Rail Cards can be used on the nationwide rail network.

If you are aged 60 or more and can provide the necessary proof of age and residence and a passport size photograph, you can obtain a concessionary travel pass at any customer service centre or East Riding of Yorkshire Council Library at any time during normal opening hours.

Green concessionary travel passes can also be obtained from:

South Cave Town Council Offices, 65a Market Place every Tuesday and Friday from 10.00am to 12.00noon.
Additional Information There will be an amnesty for exsiting passholders to be able to travel locally until 18th April 2008. You should use your existing Red or Green bus pass.

Please note because of the changes to concessionary travel from 1st April 2008 details of the existing green and red buses passes has been removed. If you require any information please contact Passenger Services.

From 1st April 2008 the Council will be introducing a new bus pass, which will give additional travel benefits for residents. These benefits are in addition to the national travel pass.

The Early Bird Bus Pass will go on sale in March 2008, however it cannot be used until 1st April 2008. Early Bird Bus Passes will be on sale through the Council`s Customer Service Centres and Libraries.

The Early Bird Bus Pass will give free bus travel before 0930 and after 2300 Mondays to Fridays to the same destinations as the current red cross boundary pass. For travel at other times and days people must use their national bus pass.

To apply for a bus pass applicants must complete an application form, provide a passport sized photograph and pay the fee of £15.00.

Passes will be valid for 12 months from the date of issue. Any passes issued before 31st March 2008 will be dated to expire on 31st March 2009.

The Disabled Person`s Travel Pass will continue to be valid after 1st April 2008 and current passholders will shortly receive a letter explaining the changes.

This pass is available to:
Persons registered with East Riding Social Services as blind, deaf, limbless or severe learning disabled.

This pass is available for:
Free travel on buses and trains wholly within the East Riding or to certain destinations outside the East Riding. Valid for free travel to the following locations: Doncaster, Hull (and for local travel within Hull), Malton, Pontefract, Scarborough, Scunthorpe (for journeys from Goole), Selby and York.

PLEASE NOTE:
Trains: NOT valid for free travel on trains before 0930 Mo nday to Friday. There are no time restrictions on Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays.

Bus: NOT valid for free travel on buses between 0931 and 2259 Monday to Friday. For travel between these times you must use a national travel pass.

Early Bird Bus Passes cost £15.00 and are valid for 12 months.
Eligibility To obtain an Early Bird Bus Pass you must provide an existing East Riding Green or Red bus pass. When the new national free passes are issued, then a pass with the East Riding logo will be accepted as proof of eligibility.
Caller Documents Proof of age (Birth Cert., Pension Card, Driving Lic, Old Pass or Passport) & residence (Driving Lic., Rent Book, Bank Statement, Council Tax or Utilities Bill).

IPassport sized, head & shoulders, photograph (1 1/2 x 2 inches).

Eligible applicants who reside on a caravan site within the East Riding may apply for a concessionary travel pass, providing they reside on the caravan site for longer than 6 months within any 12 month period. Caravan site dwellers will be required to provide a letter supporting their application and sign a declaration.
