| Description of Service |
Children`s Centres are being developed throughout the East Riding, to support parents to enable them to enjoy raising their family, and to give children the best start in life.
Children`s Centres aim to provide opportunities so that each child can: develop self confidence and self esteem extend his/her natural curiosity and zest for life develop into a fluent and confident communicator become creative and imaginative explore feelings of awe and wonder, joy, delight and mystery develop friendships and co-operation with others in a safe environment lead a healthy life recognise the value of equal opportunity for all, regardless of race, sex, class and special needs receive support as part of a family and a community Children`s Centres aim to provide opportunites so that each parent and carer can: enjoy raising their family develop confidence in their parenting skills have access to information that can help them and their family access to support to enable them to cope at difficult times develop friendships and support networks with other parents and carers feel able to drop in to the centre or call and discuss any worries, concerns or achievements feel valued raise their aspirations and self esteem have a sense of belonging in their community At East Riding Children`s Centre Bridlington we support you and your family through: information about local childcare and early years education information about health services family support and outreach information about job and training opportunities for parents plus a range of other activities in response to locally identified need. | Who can use the service? |
Live in Bridlington and the surrounding villages and be pregnant or have child/children aged 0-5 years.
Sensory Room The room can be hired by calling the Centre - 01262 409596, there is no cost involved. A professional (Health Visitor, Physiotherapist etc.) or a member of the Centre staff needs to be present during the visit. There is no age limit but the room is fairly small so is more suited to not very active children with a maximum of probably about three children per session. There is an interactive bubble tube and mood light. Also rope lights, a mathmos projector, fibre optic lights, disco ball and fibre optic rotation light. There is a box of massage equipment and a box filled with toys that light up or can be squeezed and squashed! There are also soft cushions and feely cushions. To finish off there is also a CD player with mood music. |
