Intertidal Code of Conduct
North Eastern Sea Fisheries Committee is involved in the schemes of management for the three European Marine Sites within its District. Additionally there are numerous other designated sites that have species or habitats which are sensitive to anthropogenic activities. Generally, many of these activities are only regulated in terms of fisheries, yet they have the potential to cause severe damage to sensitive areas. As best practice, coastal managers prefer a pragmatic approach whereby codes of conduct are developed for activities, so to avoid the need for burdensome regulation and costly enforcement.
