Carers Charter
East Riding of Yorkshire Council aims to improve support to carers who are recognised as providing a substantial amount of care within the community.
The Council has therefore adopted a Carers' Charter:

Carers should be recognised as individuals with their own expertise, skills and needs

Carers should be able to make informed choices about taking on/ continuing the role of carer

People should not make assumptions about a carer's ability to provide care on the basis of race, culture, age, disability or sexual orientation

Carers should be regularly consulted and have the opportunity to be fully involved, individually and collectively at all levels

Carers should have available information that is accurate, honest, comprehensive and accessible

Carers should have available a range of appropriate and flexible services available to carers, which meets individual needs

Carers should be informed about available benefits

All agencies should work together to provide efficient and affective services for carers
