The Driffield Renaissance Plan is a ten year plan aiming to make sure that Driffield is a great place to live, work and invest in. To help us do this we need to know what local people think. This, therefore, is your opportunity to help build a great future for people in Driffield and the surrounding area.

* 82% of respondents said they shopped regularly for shopping.
* 74% of respondents said they would use Driffield more if it had more non-food shops.
* People generally felt safe in Driffield town centre during the day and less so in the evening.
* 91% would support environmental improvements in the town centre.
* Only 40% use public transport to get to the show ground.
* Most people will support environmental improvements around the trains station and north of the town centre.
* Strong support was shown for cultural improvements and leisure facilities especially focused at young people.

Outcomes

* Concerns were expressed about the quality of the shops and proposed supermarket developments
A town centre group has been established to look at town centre issues. The East Riding town and retail study has been jointly commissioned with Forward Planning to look in detail at the issues and develop an action plan. Outcome will be used to inform the Local Development Framework.

* Concerns were expressed about the physical environment and 88% supported improvements around the train station
A project to transform a patch of derelict land in to a community gardens adjacent to the train station had been developed and will be implemented this financial year.

* People generally thought there was a good sense of community in Driffield but there are not enough culture and leisure facilities available in Driffield, particularly for young people
The Driffield Partnership Cultural and Heritage group are currently undertaking a cultural audit as the first stage in the process of improving the cultural offer of the town.

* Strong concerns were expressed about facilities for children and young people. 60% of respondents thought there was not enough good quality and safe areas for children to play in and that young people did not have a say in local decision making, were not respected or had a enough things to do and go to in Driffield
Young peoples issues will be a cross cutting theme in the Driffield Renaissance Plan. The Driffield Town Youth Council will be established to highlight young people concerns and give them a vehicle to have a say in the future of the town.
