Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment 2010
The Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment is an extensive survey of existing and potential housing sites in the East Riding. It will be used as part of a vital evidence base for the Local Development Framework, particularly the Core Strategy DPD and Allocations DPD. The SHLAA document is used to inform the Annual Update on the Managed Release of Residential Development Sites IPG.
The settlements selected for consideration in the SHLAA are identified in the Development Plan, Smaller Settlements DPD - Preferred Options and the emerging Core Strategy, as suitable locations for some form of housing development. The sites identified in the SHLAA have been assessed against a number of criteria to establish whether they are: suitable, available and achievable. Please note that the SHLAA does not allocate sites for development, nor does it create new policy. Its purpose is to assess the potential supply of housing land to meet a 5 year supply of housing. This is a background paper, which will inform the Allocations document. The Allocations document will set out where the Local Planning Authority proposes to allocate land for housing. The preparation of the Allocations DPD will involve a more rigorous sustainability assessment of individual sites as well as a consultation with the wider community.

Appendix C: Assessment of Allocations for Release
The SHLAA found that there was a small deficit in the 5 year supply of housing land in the northern sub area. Therefore allocated housing sites in the Northern sub area were assessed for release. The allocation chosen for release was Market Weighton6: Land South of Holme Road (MARK12 in the East Yorkshire Borough Wide Local Plan), which has an estimated capacity for 45 dwellings. Further explanation of the method of choosing allocations for release can be found in section 5 of the final report. The assessment of the allocations can be found below.
