There has been considerable change over the past 50 years in terms of equal opportunities. Look around you next time that you are out shopping, at a football match or watching the T.V. Compare the number of men and women from different ethnic groups, how does this compare with 10 or 20 years ago?

In the past equal opportunities has often been described as 'everyone being the same'. This is however, somewhat outdated, today when we talk about equality we describe it in terms of everyone being different, treated with an equal level of respect and having equal access to services, this is known more so as DIVERSITY.
