Rural Roots

Rural Roots Project

  • Rural Roots was a project to help take the archives and local studies service out to rural communities in the East Riding of Yorkshire.

  • The project received a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund as part of a programme called Archives 4 All that was supported by the National Archives and ran from January 2007 to March 2008.

  • The project created and supported three heritage groups in the rural communities of Easington, Bolton and Newbald.

  • During the project these groups received support on how to research their local history through a variety talks, presentations and training sessions.  They received digital copies of documents from the archives and local studies collections to work on.
