Online Archive Catalogue

Rows of books in the Archives

We hold historical records relating to the East Riding dating from the 12th century to the present day. These records cover all aspects of the lives of East Riding people and range from the archives of official bodies to small collections of family papers.

The Online Archive Catalogue contains detailed information about the records that are available for consultation in our research room. The Catalogue contains a summary of each archive collection and descriptions of individual documents. It also allows you to see the catalogue for each item in the context of the whole archive of which it is part.

This is a comprehensive database of all of the catalogued archive collections of the East Riding Archives and Local Studies Service. It is continually being added to as new acquisitions and unlisted collections are catalogued. The Online Archive Catalogue links to a ‘live’ version of the database and it is always a current version of the public catalogue.

This database is the product of the work of all of our staff. A major contribution was made by the work of the ‘Reaching Out Across the Riding’ project. This was supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund and enabled the then East Riding Archives Service to carry out a programme of conversion of typed lists into the Online Catalogue during 2003-2004.
