Museums and Archives

We are always pleased to receive printed sources or original records, on deposit or by gift, so that they can be preserved for the future. The records are then stored in secure repositories where the temperature and humidity are controlled.

Items to be donated or loaned to the Museums Service can be left with Museums Service staff on the 1 st floor of the Treasure House. You can also leave objects on short-term loan for identification by a curator. You will be issued with a receipt for any items left.

The Museums Service's Acquisition and Disposal policy details the collecting strategies for each of its museum sites. This will be used to determine where any new acquisitions received at the Treasure House will be stored e.g. material relevant to Beverley would stay at the Treasure House, whilst objects relevant to Bridlington would go into the Sewerby Hall collection for example.
