The Grounds Services Section employs around 140 staff with a turnover of £3.5 million per annum. The service has developed significantly since 1999, and now provides a single point of contact for the public on a wide range of grounds management and maintenance including those items detailed in the table below.
The core work activities involve grass cutting, tree pruning and planting, flower and shrub bed maintenance, play equipment maintenance, weed killing and spraying, and other related work.
Other major activities include providing horticultural and arboricultural advice to the public and town and parish councils, and support to local community groups with their entries for the annual Yorkshire in Bloom competition with judging taking place in April & July.
