Household Waste Recycling Sites (HWRS)

Household Waste Recycling Site

We have 10 Household Waste Recycling Site across the East Riding. The facilities are for the disposal of household waste only and they are designed to recycle the maximum amount of material that is disposed of at the site.

Nearly all kinds of household waste can be taken to a Household Waste Recycling Site and be recycled. Each of the 10 Household Waste Recycling Site consistently achieve monthly recycling rates of between 60-80%, peaking around 85% in summer.

Please be aware that a van and large trailer ban is in place at all 10 Household Waste Recycling Site. This was introduced in August 2001 to attempt to stop people trying to dispose of commercial waste at the sites.

We do permit one-off trips to your local Household Waste Recycling Site with a van or large trailer to dispose of your household waste, but please be aware you will be asked to fill in a Waste Declaration Form upon your arrival. If you intend on making more than one visit you MUST apply for permits. For information on obtaining a permit, contact the permit hotline on 01482 395581.

Use our Recycle Finder and view the locations of all our waste recycling sites on a map of the East Riding. When the new window opens, select Recycle Finder from the "Service Finder" menu. Clicking on the location name will open it on the map, and then the Info button at the bottom of the page will show what can be recycled at that site.
