Rubbish collections - residential

We will collect rubbish and recycleable materials weekly or bi-weekly depending on the type of bin provided.

Blue bins

The kerbside blue wheeled bins are used for recyclable materials such as newspapers, steel food cans, glossy magazines and plastic bottles.

Blue bins are provided free of charge and collected every four weeks.

Brown bins

The brown bins are for grass cuttings, hedge and shrub trimmings, plants and flowers. The collected waste will be composted.

More than 20,000 households in the East Riding are taking part in a brown bin trial for garden waste. East Riding of Yorkshire Council is running the trial from March in two areas, Driffield and Haltemprice.

Green bins

The green bin is used for the collection of domestic waste. Collections are made on a weekly basis between Monday and Thursday.
