Text Message Reminder Service

Text Message Reminder Service

If you find it difficult to remember to put your blue bin out for collection, then why not join our great reminder service? Once you have joined, we will send you a text message once a month the day before your blue bin collection is due to remind you to put your bin out.

How to join
To join the service you need to text in from the phone you want to receive the text. Look at the list of numbers below. You need to text in the word "blue" to the number corresponding to the day each week your green bin is collected.

Monday - 07786 200830
Tuesday - 07786 208207
Wednesday - 07786 201286
Thursday - 07786 200416

Eg. If your green bin is collected once a week every Tuesday, then text in the word "blue" to the Tuesday number 07786 208207. These 4 different numbers tell us which refuse collection is due and therefore when to send your reminder message.

This first message is charged at your standard network rate, thereafter the service is completely free. You will receive a message back confirming registration and then that's it!

Note: The Text Message Reminders are a supplementary service designed to compliment the Blue Bin Collection Calendar. The texts are not intended to be your only way of remembering your blue bin day.

FAQs

What if I want to stop my reminder text message?
Text in the word "stop" to the same number you joined. This will unsubscribe you from from the service.

Changing your mobile phone number
If at any time you change mobile phone number then you should, if possible, first of all unsubscribe your old number from our service (see above). This will prevent your old number from receiving the reminder messages when someone else takes on that number. You then need to re-subscribe to the service from your new mobile phone number as outlined above.

Moving House
Sometimes if you move house, your refuse collection round might change ie. the day your green bin is emptied. If this happens, you will need to stop the reminder messages (see above) and then rejoin the service on the number corresponding to your new green bin collection day.
