Recycling in Great Britain is becoming more and more important, over the next few years it will become an regular part of everyone’s day to day life.
The area covered by East Riding of Yorkshire Council produced 205,085.79 tonnes of waste in the year 2006/07. This equates to 1.4 tonnes of waste per household a year.
Out of all that waste only 30% (excluding Construction and Demolition waste) was recycled during 2006/2007. The rest was taken to landfill sites where they were buried in the ground for a slow process of degradation.
If everyone did their bit the waste problem would be far smaller.
