Ruined Greek theatre in foreground, coastline and snow-topped mountains beyond. Gilt wood and plaster frame, glazed. Taormina was an ancient Greek colony, situated about midway along the east coast of Sicily. In modern times it has been a popular destination for writers, poets and painters.
