How to contact us

If you have any comments or suggestions, compliments or complaints, you can contact us in a number of ways:

 

  • Via a Councillor

  • A feedback form at any Customer Service Centre, Leisure Centre or Library.

    Alternatively, you can write to East Riding of Yorkshire Council, County Hall, Beverley, East Riding of Yorkshire, HU17 9BA.

Your comments

Please let us know if you have any suggestions for improving our services.

We will respond to you within 10 working days.

 

Your compliments

If you think we have done something well, we would like to recognise this so that other services can follow the example.

We will record your compliments and pass them on to the relevant member of staff and the appropriate manager.

 

Your complaints

If you have a complaint regarding a service you have used, a service which has not been provided or about an employee you should:

 

  • Try and settle your complaint with the employee you are dealing with or, if this is not possible, ask to speak to their manager.

  • If you are still not satisfied you can ask for it to be escalated to the relevant Director.

  • You will be asked to provide details of why you are dissatisfied with the outcome, and produce any further evidence, for example staff attitudes, incomplete responses.

  • This stage will be completed by the relevant Director. The Director will update the Chief Executive on complaints which remain unresolved following their investigation.

Councillors

Social Services

If you have a complaint regarding Social Services, please contact the Customer Relations Officer – Social Services on 01482 396422.

 

Schools

If you have a complaint about a school, please contact the Head-teacher in the first instance. If you are still dissatisfied, you may complain to the Chair of Governors.

 

If the problem is still not resolved, you may have your complaint considered by the Governing Body Complaints Committee. Please contact the Customer Relations Officer – Social Services on 01482 396422 for further information.

 

All comments, compliments and complaints will be monitored to ensure that the council learns from your feedback.

 

If you cannot settle your complaint with the council, you may wish to take up the matter with the Local Government Ombudsman.

 

The Local Government Ombudsman will ask you if you have tried to resolve the problem with the council in the first instance.
