The new content managed site
East Riding of Yorkshire Council has invested in a new Content Management System (CMS) to deliver improved information and services to our online customers. Our initial work has been to cleanse the former website of old and out of date content leaving a solid foundation of relevant content for the current site.
Content on this site is provided directly from the service areas using procedures that will ensure useful information and usable services are delivered at all times. Further development, services and content will be added in the coming months to deliver a comprehensive online service.
When visiting our site you may not be able to find what you are looking for, this could be a gap in our online service and we would be grateful for your feedback on these occasions.
Breadcrumb
As you navigate around the site you will create a breadcrumb trail. This will detail where you are and how you have got there. You can use the breadcrumb to travel back through the navigation by clicking on the links.
A-Z of council services
The A-Z can be found in the main header at the top of every page. It will give you important contact information for all of the services that we provide. For example 'Pest control', 'Housing Benefit', 'Planning Applications.' In addition to contact details you will also find links to associated online forms, documents, web pages and external sites.
Search facility
The search facility can also be found at the top of every page. It will return any web pages associated with the key word(s) that you type into the search box. For example, typing in planning will bring back Planning Applications, Forward Planning, Structure Planning, Local plans, Planning documents, Planning finder, and more.
If you are having trouble finding something or the search engine is not bringing back results when you think it should be, please let us know and we will fix the problem immediately.

Browser options
It is very hard to design a website that fits the needs of everybody perfectly, so we have designed our site so that you can customise it yourself. Find out how to change colours, text-size, fonts, etc by reading the browser options section.
Downloading software
Important content is available to all on this website regardless of whether you have the latest plugins or software. But sometimes we do like to use other technologies to enhance the text or illustrations. To find out about what we use and to download any plugins / software that you may not have please look at our downloads section.
