How do I search for a walk?

There are two ways of searching for walks in the East Riding.

  1. The first method is to click on the map on the home page. The map is split into 4 areas and this will call up a list of walks in the area of the map you selected. Further information on any of the walks can be found by clicking on its title.

  2. The second method is to use the Search Walks Page. Begin by pressing the 'search for a walk' button on the home page. The search facility allows you to limit your search to specific walk types and categories (Such as length, grade and nearby towns & villages). This makes it possible to tailor the search to find the most relevant walks.

For each of the categories, select the walk criteria you would like to search on by typing in the text or selecting from the drop down list (For example, type 'Hornsea' in the criteria for the 'Key Places' category). Leaving a box empty will include all the options in that category. Once you have selected all the categories you wish click on the search button at the bottom of the page. This will open a page with all the walks that match your criteria. You can always return to this page to refine, broaden, or restart your search.

How do I refine my search?

If the search results are not what you wanted, click on the 'refine your search' button at the bottom of the page to return you to the search page, alter your search criteria and click on the search button.

What information is available on each walk?

Each walk on this site includes a map indicating a route and a written description of the route. Other information is also available, including features of interest, nearby refreshments, toilets, parking and the reference number of the Ordnance Survey map most suitable to navigate the route. The information is viewed on the walk details page.

How do I print this information?

The information can be printed by pressing the Print button on the Walk Details page. Before printing the walk is displayed as a print preview. The quality of the print will vary according to the type of printer selected.

Can I use the map to navigate the walk?

Please note that the maps are diagrammatic, and indicate the existence of routes.
The routes are generally signposted and waymarked but the Ordnance Survey "Explorer" maps are ideal for guidance on the ground, and are a recommended companion while on these walks.

How do I report/give my opinion on a walk?

The Review page gives you the opportunity to tell us what you thought of a walk and why. Guidelines for use of the Review form can be found on the page.

Can I read a review on a walk?
