The Pigeon Detectives On Saturday 31 May 2008 The Spa Bridlington hosts top Indie band The Pigeon Detectives as part of The Spa’s launch week. A Yorkshire-based band, The Pigeon Detectives hail from Leeds and have been hitting the charts since 2002, especially with their massively popular album Wait For Me. The concert is the first event marking The Spa Bridlington’s grand launch and kicks off a week-long programme which ends with a public Open Day on 7 June. HEY! Conferences' exhibition stand The Spa Bridlington recently teamed up with HEY! Conferences (the new conference bureau for Hull and East Yorkshire) to attend the National Venue Show at the NEC, Birmingham. Alongside The Deep and The Octagon from Hull, The Spa was promoted to conference and event organisers from across the UK and beyond.

White Rose Award winnerBridlington has scooped the award for Visitor Destination of the Year at the 2007 White Rose Awards, seeing off competition from the likes of York, Harrogate and the Yorkshire Dales. The award is a tribute to the ambitious regeneration plans and high levels of investment in the town - with The Spa being a key example. The Spa will bring in entertainment and business for the benefit of both visitors and residents and help Bridlington to live up to its new title!

Courtney PineMusicport World Music Festival comes to The Spa Bridlington in October 2008! Musicport is the UK’s biggest indoor world music event, attracting acts from all over the world. After 8 years in Whitby, the Festival is relocating to take advantage of The Spa Bridlington’s newly redeveloped state-of-the-art facilities and greater capacity.

Acts at this year’s festival include Finnish band Varttina (composers of the Lord of the Rings Musical that recently opened in London) and legendary saxophonist Courtney Pine and his band.

The Bridlington showgirls The Spa Bridlington caused a stir at Driffield Show on 18 July 2007. Two glamorous showgirls joined the sales team to answer questions from the public about the building's exciting redevelopments and promote sign-ups to The Spa Bridlington's mailing list. The showgirls are currently performing in Bridlington's summer show, which has been relocated to the 3Bs Entertainment Centre at Leisure World. In their dramatic and eye-catching costumes, the showgirls were joined by ERYC The Bear, street entertainers, a town crier, robot and more at the busy East Riding of Yorkshire Council tent.

Lucky punter Neil Page Lucky punter Neil Page of Chesterfield, Derbyshire, won a bottle of champagne after he bought the first ticket for The Spa Bridlington's 2008 events programme. Neil is pictured with artists of the Bridlington Northern Soul Weekender show, which is coming to The Spa, 27-29 June 2008.

Councillor Stephen Parnaby, leader of the council visited The Spa Bridlington to place the brass feature (finial) on top of the magnificent dome above the Royal Hall. Unfortunately, appalling weather and high winds prevented the ceremony taking place on the day, but a time capsule was still placed inside the finial. Guests at the 'topping out' event, including local hoteliers and guesthouse owners, were also treated to the launch of a new branding and image for The Spa Bridlington as it undergoes dramatic redevelopment.
