Humberside Safety Camera Partnership highlights the worst crash sites in your area - North Lincolnshire
Statistics released by Humberside Safety Camera Partnership show that the areas of North Lincolnshire with the highest incidence of serious injury and fatal collisions are also the areas where a high proportion of motorists flout the speed limit.
The figures highlight in shocking detail why Humberside Safety Camera Partnership is trying to reduce speed at known collision hot-spots across the former Humberside region.
Among the worst affected areas is Grange Lane South in Ashby (a 30mph zone), where, between 1999 and 2001, there were 19 injury crashes and six people were killed or seriously injured, including two pedestrians. Despite this, 39 per cent of traffic travelling along that route during the same period exceeded the limit.
On Rowland Road in Scunthorpe, a 30mph zone, there were 15 injury crashes, in which three people were killed or seriously injured, yet a massive 75 per cent of traffic exceeded the speed limit.
Ruth Gore of Humberside Safety Camera Partnership commented: “All of the sites where we use safety cameras have a history of collisions and excessive speed, but the statistics for these three sites are particularly shocking.
“No-one wants to have a fatal collision on their conscience for the rest of their lives, so please slow down and drive safely.
