Laceby By-pass - Community Concern Site
Humberside Safety Camera Partnership confirms that the Laceby By-pass will become one of the Partnerships community concern sites for speed enforcement this year. The site was initially identified as an area of concern by North East Lincolnshire Council.
This national speed limit dual carriageway has seen 10 crashes where people have been killed or seriously injured along its 3 kilometre length during 2000 - 2002. However, whilst the Laceby By-pass does meet the criteria laid down by Government regarding collision and casualties, it unfortunately does not meet the criteria for constant excessive speeding, which means it can not become one of the Partnerships core sites.
However, Humberside Safety Camera Partnership is allowed to use it's discretion to undertake adhoc but targeted enforcement at locations that meet some of the criteria and have shown to be a particular concern to the local community.
Mick Harris project manager for the Partnership said “Humberside Safety Camera Partnership has to work within strict guidelines to ensure that speed enforcement only takes place at collision hotspots. However, due to the overwhelming public feeling shown by the local community at Laceby, the Partnership will be able to do targeted enforcement at this site in the future"
