Welcome
Speed seminar

Motorist caught speeding at the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) speed enforcement thresholds may in certain circumstances be offered a place on a speed seminar as an alternative to a fine and three points on the drivers licence.
The speed seminar takes roughly two hours and is a mixture of discussion and information presented by Police officers and a driving instructor. The speed seminar scheme is run by the Roadaware Partnership, which is totally separately from the Humberside Safety Camera Partnership - the only link is the safety camera scheme refers offenders onto the speed seminars scheme.
Background to the Roadaware Partnership and speed seminars
In the summer of 2001 the Roadaware Partnership undertook a pilot speed seminar with the aim of educating offenders on the effects of driving at inappropriate speed. The initial evaluation was very positive so the scheme was made permanent and is regularly evaluated and updated. The Roadaware Partnership is a road safety partnership between Humberside Police, East Riding of Yorkshire Council, Hull City Council, North East Lincolnshire Council and North Lincolnshire Council.
The questions and answers below are based upon the fact sheet sent out to clients when they are booked onto a speed seminar place. Please note - a place on a speed seminar is OFFERED in certain circumstances and a driver cannot request to go on one.
