Family Placement Team
The East Riding of Yorkshire Council, Social Services Family Placement Team provides a number of fostering and adoption services to children and families. This is part of a range of activities undertaken by the Council to support the children and families of the East Riding.
The team deals with different aspects of placements for children of all ages, placing them in foster care or with adoptive families. The staff recruits, trains and assesses prospective foster and adoptive parents and provide support to these families following approval and after children are placed.
- Birth families- the team provides a range of services to birth parents, including advice about the Adoption Contact Register and other post adoption contact issues.
- Post Adoption Services - Under the Adoption Act 1976, Section 51, counselling can be provided for the people who have been adopted seeking information about their birth families. Staff in the Family Placement Team will assist people who wish to pursue this course of action.
