Activities Available
Activities vary from team to team but Personal Development is the common goal as well as making sure all activities are fun!
Activities include:
- Self help- personal care, hair care, self presentation etc.
- Communication - increasing vocabularies and expression, use of Makaton, using the telephone, speech and language therapy.
- Domestic - meal preparation, basic and survival cookery, cooking for fun and as a sensory experience.
- Academic - numeracy, literacy, shape and colour recognition, money skills and computers.
- Vocational - gardening, basic handy crafts and/or woodwork, work placement opportunities if appropriate.
- Community skills - using cafes, post office, library and shopping as well as public transport etc.
- Leisure activities - swimming, drama, bowling, sports activities, rambling and much more.
- Sensory activities - covering visual, tactile, and aural stimulation.
Underpinning any programme of activities is a commitment to meeting an individual's personal care needs as well as providing emotional support. Any of the above activities can be provided if a need is identified within the individuals care plan.
