Service Charges
The East Riding of Yorkshire Council is dedicated to providing high quality, cost effective services which create a better quality of life for all our residents. Most services provided by Social Services are means tested, i.e. based upon how much the person receiving services can afford to pay. To work out the charge, a financial assessment is carried out and it normally needs information about your income, property and savings. Any information will be treated in the strictest confidence.
Any charges for services will always be fully explained to you before you commit yourself to anything. You will always be able to decide whether you wish to receive a particular service or not. Items were a charge may be set include:
- Homecare Support e.g. meals and laundry services
- Items of equipment for daily living
- Residential Care
- Day Services/centres/facilities
- Housing Related Support e.g. advice, guidance etc
For those people who pay for their care in a nursing home, the cost of the care provided by a registered nurse will be met by the local Primary Care Trust.
