AdminHistoryPocklington Rural District Council was formed in December 1894 under the terms of the Local Government Act 1894. Under the Local Government Review Order 1935 the Urban District of Pocklington was transferred into Pocklington Rural District. The Council functioned until it was disbanded under local government reorganisation in March 1974 following the Local Government Act 1972. The Pocklington Rural District consisted of the following civil parishes: Allerthorpe, Barmby Moor, Bielby, Bishop Wilton, Bugthorpe, Catton, Cottinghwith, Everingham, Fangfoss, Full Sutton, Goodmanham, Hayton, Huggate, Kirby Underdale, Londesborough, Market Weighton, Melbourne, Millington, Nunburnholme, Pocklington, Sancton, Seaton Ross, Shiptonthorpe, Skirpenbeck, South Cliffe, Stamford Bridge, Sutton upon Derwent, Thornton, Warter, Wilberfoss and Yapham.
