Business rates

Business rates is the commonly-used term for non-domestic rates. Non-domestic rates are charged on most non-domestic premises, including commercial properties such as shops, offices, pubs, warehouses and factories. The council calculate and collect non-domestic rates on behalf of central government. The money raised is then used to help fund local services like the police and fire and rescue services.

Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19), we are running on a reduced service and therefore only taking emergency calls. We understand this is a difficult time. If you are having difficulties paying, please contact us immediately via email at business.rates@eastriding.gov.uk.

The Chancellor has announced a number of measures to help support businesses with effect from 1 April 2020.  Find out more information about how businesses are being supported.
