Do I need to licence pleasure boats?

Yes

If you would like to take passengers out on a pleasure boat or vessel, or hire the boat or vessel out to members of the public you will need a licence.

Licences are issued by both the Maritime and Coastguard Agency and the Local Licensing Authority.

To apply to the council for a licence you will need to nominate a set departure point and the vessel or boat will need to be navigated by a licenced boatman.
