'Best Bar None'

Welcome to East Riding of Yorkshire 'Best Bar None' Accreditation Scheme, the scheme is aimed at awarding and accrediting well-run alcohol licensed premises. You can find out more about 'Best Bar None' national scheme, how to apply to participate, what awards are available, and which premises have previously been accredited and won.

What is the 'Best Bar None' scheme?

The Best Bar None is about working to reduce crime, reward excellence and raise standards of alcohol licensed premises.

‘Best Bar None’ is a national award scheme which aims to promote responsible management and operation of alcohol-licensed premises. The scheme is backed by the Home Office and aims to reward licensees who:

  • help reduce alcohol-related crime and disorder
  • build a positive relationship between licensed trade, the police, and the local authority
  • provide a safe and enjoyable environment for customers
  • help reduce the harmful effects of binge drinking
  • improve their knowledge and skills to improve their business and the local area.

The biggest winners in 'Best Bar None' are visitors and residents of the East Riding, who are able to reap the rewards of a more welcoming, attractive, lively and above all safer place to visit and live.

Premises who participate in the Best Bar None awards scheme and gain accreditation are awarded the Best Bar None recognition plaque, and can then go forward to be awarded the best premises in their category.
