Getting financial help

As a self-employed person, you will need to consider what money you need to live on as well as money to start up the business and keep it going.

Is there any funding available to help me start or grow a business?

As a new start or growing business you may be eligible for funding to help you start up or expand your business and there are a range of organisations and Government departments that may be able to help you.

You can access a range of websites to find out more about what help is available on the Funding and support page.

Where else can I find funding advice?

There are many sources of finance, but you should get advice on interest rates, lending terms and repayment periods before committing. We always recommend that you speak with one of our business advisers prior to applying for any loan fund.

The most suitable finance option for your business depends on:

  • the amount of funding needed
  • whether you are a start-up
  • if you offering personal assets as security (a riskier option, but can make funding easier to obtain)
  • whether you own your own premises
  • whether or not you’re willing to sell shares.

The below link will explain the different types of funding available.
