2.Register with family hubs

    Introduction

    If you care for a child or children aged up to 19, or up to 25 for young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), and live in the East Riding of Yorkshire, make sure you are registered with our Best Start Family Hubs.

    Registration is free and gives you and your family access to all services and activities at any family hub in the East Riding. You must be registered to attend any of our sessions.

    Who can register

    You can register if you live in the East Riding of Yorkshire council area and either you:

    A secondary person, such as a partner, grandparent, or foster carer, can also be registered.

    Please note:

    If you are not registered with us as a primary or secondary carer, but you care for a child who is registered with our family hubs and you would like to attend a session with them, you will also need to complete the registration form.

    This could apply to you if you are a grandparent, aunt or uncle, or a brother or sister aged 18 or over.

    How to register

    Follow the steps below to register with family hubs.

    Fill in the form

    Register with Best Start Family Hubs

    For each person being registered, we will need to know:

    • their name and date of birth
    • their address
    • their ethnic background and the languages they speak at home
    • any special educational needs, disabilities or long-term health conditions and details of any adjustments they need.

    If you are registering any children, we will also need to know:

    • how you and the secondary carer (if relevant) are related to the child(ren)
    • the gender of each child.

    If you are at least 20 weeks pregnant, we will also ask for your expected due date.

    What happens next

    Once you have submitted the form, we'll email you to confirm your registration.

    Everyone registered will then be able to:

    • visit any family hub
    • access a wide range of family support
    • book onto our activity sessions.

    • Join our free sessions and courses

      We offer something for every stage of your parenting journey, including antenatal classes, play-based sessions like play and learn or musical me, and our togetherness parenting course. Search for sessions at your local family hub.

    • Get advice and support

      Whether you'd like support with parenting, child development, breastfeeding or finding the right services in your community, our friendly team is here for you. Find out more about the support available at family hubs.

    • Stay up to date with what’s on across your area

      Our free newsletter, What’s On, is emailed to the primary carer three times a year. It includes updates on sessions, activities, and health and midwife services at family hubs in your area.
