What is the roleof the Environment and Regeneration Overview and Scrutiny Sub-Committee?

The role of the Environment and Regeneration Overview and Scrutiny Sub-Committee is to:

  • review the general policies and performance of the council and external organisations in relation to the following areas:

    • Economic Development and Regeneration
    • Culture and Information
    • Streetscene Services
    • Infrastructure and Facilities
    • Transportation
    • Planning and Forward Planning 
  • scrutinise individual decisions taken by the Cabinet in the above areas
  • monitor the council's performance in the above areas
  • manage statutory responsibilities in respect of the scrutiny of flood risk management in pursuant with the Flood and Water Management Act 2010 and The Flood Risk Management Overview and Scrutiny Committee (England) Regulations 2011.

Are meetings open to the public?

Yes. Meetings are open to the public but there may be some matters which will be considered in private. During such situations members of the public will be asked to leave the meeting at this point. The circumstances under which we can consider matters in private are tightly controlled by law.

Can I record, film, take photographs or use social media during meetings?

Yes, new legislation means that you can film, record, take photos and use social media during open meetings. For more information please visit the photography, filming and social media use page.

Can members of the public speak at meetings?

No. Members of the public are not permitted to speak or ask questions at meetings.

Can members of the public suggest an item for scrutiny?

Yes. The Council welcomes suggestions from members of the public for items for scrutiny.
