Allocations Policy Review 2023

Consultation type
Closed
Opening date
05/10/2023
Closing date

Brief description

The Housing Act 1996 requires all local authorities to have an allocation policy to determine the priorities and define the procedures that will be followed when allocating housing accommodation. This policy sets out who can apply for affordable housing (this includes both council housing and nominations to Housing Association properties) across the East Riding and how the council process applications.

The current Allocation Policy is based on 9 Bands and has 5890 (as of August 2023) applicants waiting for accommodation across the East Riding.

We would like to hear from housing applicants, residents living in social housing, voluntary groups and local organisations connected to affordable housing that might be impacted by changes to the Allocations Policy in the East Riding.

We would appreciate your views on the objectives and challenges which are a priority to you when trying to access the council’s housing waiting list, so we can shape the Allocations Policy to better suit the needs of applicants and Housing staff to use.
