Community Governance Review Phase 1

Brief description

Parish and Town Councils are the first tier of local government. They play a vital role in providing local services and involving people in their local community.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council is responsible for carrying out reviews of Parish and Town Council arrangements (known as Community Governance Reviews) and is currently undertaking a review of the East Riding of Yorkshire area.

A Community Governance Review can make a number of changes to parish governance when there is clear evidence this would be an improvement. This could involve moving parish boundaries, creating or merging parishes or making changes to parish wards and numbers of Councillors. As a first step in the review process, we are inviting all local stakeholders and interested parties to let us know their views about the Parish and Town Council arrangements in their area, and to tell us about any changes they would like to see.
