Description

We are proposing improvements to the existing footway along the north side of the A1079 between Bishop Burton and Beverley, to widen the path to a new off-road shared footway/cycleway.

Following requests from Ward Councillors, the Parish Council and residents, East Riding of Yorkshire Council has been successful in acquiring external funding to enable phase 1 of these improvements tackling the section from the village to Killingwoldgraves roundabout.

Phase 1 proposals also include a new Toucan crossing at the roundabout to ensure safer access across the A1035 Dog Kennel Lane to encourage pedestrians and cyclists to use the route.

It is aimed at improving access for local residents, and college students and staff by creating a safer 2m wide off-road facility for cyclists to use to avoid the busy carriageway; and providing a more accessible path for pedestrians to use.
