Description

East Riding of Yorkshire Council, in-line with our home to school and college transport policy, currently provides free transport to some children who attend private fee-paying schools, at a cost to the council of around £50,000 per academic year.

National policy states the local authority has no responsibility to provide transport to children who attend private fee-paying schools. In order to ensure public money is spent in the most impactful way, we're considering removing this eligibility from our policy entirely, meaning this free service would no longer be provided and the parent / carers will be responsible for arranging transport to and from school for their child. We would like to collect your views on this proposal.
