Description

Public Protection services have a major role to play in protecting, promoting, and improving the health, safety, and economic well-being of our communities. This role includes the enforcement of numerous statutes, many of which include criminal and civil sanctions on those who infringe the law.

To ensure a fair and consistent approach to enforcement responsibilities the Council adopted a Public Protection Enforcement Policy in 2011 which sets out its expectations for officers carrying out this regulatory role, this policy is now being updated and open for public consultation until 31st January 2025. You can view and comment on the policy, using the link above.
