Description

The Council’s Revised Planning Enforcement Plan 2026 explains how we investigate and respond to suspected breaches of planning control—from minor issues to cases that can seriously affect heritage, the natural environment and residential amenity. With around 1,300 cases each year, we must focus our resources on the most harmful breaches, using clearer reporting requirements, triage and new technology to support fair, proportionate action. The draft update keeps the 2019 principles but reflects new legislation and ways of working.
