Information on the maintenance of council buildings.

Who undertakes the maintenance of council buildings and land?

Decisions regarding the maintenance of buildings and land are determined by the asset strategy department but are undertaken by the infrastructure and facilities department who utilise various contractors dependent upon the nature of the work required and the type of building.

How do we decide which repairs take priority?

A full programme of surveys is undertaken to identify faults in need of repair. These are then prioritised according to their significance and addressed accordingly within the budget available.

What are revenue budgets?

These are budgets held by the asset strategy department and used to maintain the council’s buildings and estate. They are set on an annual basis. The department must manage and direct these budgets for all land and property used by the council in the delivery of its service. The exceptions to this are budgets delegated to schools and the cleaning, caretaking and grounds maintenance elements of other budgets.
