4.Politically restricted posts

On this page:

    Introduction

The council has to maintain details of job roles that are politically restricted to preserve the political impartiality and confidence of local government.

    What does this mean

This means that employees of the council that are in politically restricted posts cannot:

    • stand for election
    • speak publicly or publish material that supports a political party
    • canvass on behalf of a political party or candidate
    • hold office in a political party.

    Affected roles

Some roles are automatically restricted by law, known as specified posts, while others are based on the duties of the role and classed as sensitive posts.
