Can I see a list of council spending?

The council is committed to the Government’s Local Transparency Agenda and is publishing, quarterly, monthly items of spend over £500. The list of expenditure includes payments for goods and services grants to third-party providers and expenses. Certain payments for example to private individuals have been redacted under the Freedom of Information and Data Protection Acts.

Can I see details of the council’s trade union facility time?

2023 reporting

The Local Government Transparency Code requires the council to publish the following information relating to trade union facility time:

  • 22 total number of union representatives - equivalent to 20.6 FTE
  • 3 total number of union representatives who devote at least 50% of time to union duties – equivalent to 2.76 FTE
  • Names of all recognised trade unions - Unison, GMB, Unite, NAHT, UCU, NASUWT, NEU, ASCL, AEP
  • Estimate of spending on unions: FTE days on TU duties = 616.27 Average salary £30,468.00 pa = £116.87 per day (616.27) x £(116.87) = £72,023.47
  • Basic estimate of spending on unions as a percentage of the total pay bill: £72,023.47 / £344,961,082.40 * 100 = 0.02%

Can I see Payment Performance Statistics?

The council seeks to pay undisputed invoices to the terms agreed with suppliers and is required to publish payment performance data under the Public Contracts Regulations 2015, section 113(7).

We are required to publish the percentage of invoices paid within 30 days, the interest liability for late payments and the amount paid in interest as charged by suppliers.

Can I see Building Control Account Financial Information?

Publication of the financial performance of the building control account is required by The Building (Local Authority Charges) Regulations 2010 section 6.

The role of Building Control is principally to ensure the health and safety of people in and about buildings. The service handles approximately 2,500 fee-paying applications every year from small domestic extensions to large-scale major projects such as power stations and hospitals.
