East Riding Arts Grants

The purpose of the Arts Grants is to support organisations providing arts activities in the East Riding of Yorkshire. The grants programme supports a diverse range of creative activity across the region, supporting the development of local artists, arts organisations and providing cultural opportunities to local residents.

The 2024/25 Round is open for applications for projects happening between April 2024 and March 2025. The deadline for applications is 01 March 2024.

What can an organisation* apply for?

  • An organisation can apply for a grant to help with an arts-related activity, performance, exhibition, event or project, there must a public element to the project.
  • The council will fund a broad range of art forms that include music (instrumental and vocal), dance, drama, mime, folk arts, community arts, creative writing, architecture, painting, sculpture, crafts, textile design, costume, cinema, video, computer-based artwork, photography and puppetry.

*An organisation is a constituted group/organisation, e.g. a charity, CIC, town council, parish council or other not-for-profit organisations.

Match funding is required. Applicants will be expected to meet a portion of the project’s costs. This could include grants from other sources, ticketing income, sponsorship etcetera.

What can we fund?

  • East Riding-based activities only
  • Running costs
  • Marketing and publicity
  • Hire of facilities
  • Programme costs
  • Performance costs.

What can't we fund?

  • Retrospective activities/events – activities for the year 2024/25 should take place after 1 April 2024
  • Items to benefit an individual
  • Individual students needing support with activities related to their course of study or their tuition fees
  • Activities that take place outside the East Riding of Yorkshire
  • Activities that do not involve the arts
  • Projects that pass on the grant funds (in part or in whole) as charitable donations.

What grants are available?

The following grants are available:

  • A 1-year grant of up to £2,000
  • A 1-year grant of over £2,000 and up to £5,000
  • A 3-year grant of over £2,000 (to a maximum of £5,000 per annum)

If you are applying for an over £2,000 grant, it is a requirement that you have a conversation with a member of the Arts Development Team before applying.

You can apply for an Arts Grant online using East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Grant Application Portal.

This portal will allow you to set up and manage your funding applications to grant schemes administered by the council.

Once you have completed your registration details you will be able to search for the Arts Grant scheme and then follow a simple step-by-step, guided process to complete and submit your form, and upload any relevant supporting documentation.
