Our Place – Youth Fund

The Our Place – Youth Fund is designed to support community groups, charities, and youth projects throughout East Riding, with a total of £100,000 available for initiatives aimed at benefiting young people in the area.

Applications are currently open to new organisations that have not previously received funding through Round 2 of the Our Place Youth Provision and are not already funded for activities taking place between April 2026 and March 2027.

The application window is currently open, and closes at 12 noon on Monday, 13 July 2026.

What is the Our Place – Youth Fund?

The Our Place – Youth Fund is designed around the five pillars of youth work, which are Educative, Expressive, Participative, Inclusive, and Empowering.

These pillars are foundational to youth work and guide how youth workers build relationships, create learning opportunities, and support young people's development.

Your project should aim to support these five pillars through the core principles and values outlined by the National Youth Agency (NYA). These include youth-led approaches, inclusivity, respect, empowerment, and a commitment to positive relationships and social justice.

You should be willing to work collaboratively in partnership with the East Riding of Yorkshire Council to deliver the project.

Who can apply for the grant?

Before applying, applicants must be legally constituted and be able to enter into a legally binding funding agreement.

You will need to be fully constituted before you can apply for this funding.

Who can apply?

  • Voluntary and community groups who have a set of rules and a bank account with at least two unconnected people to approve all transactions and withdrawals
  • Registered charities
  • Charitable incorporated organisations (CIO)
  • Not-for-profit companies
  • Community interest companies (CIC)
  • Youth groups
  • Town or parish councils
  • Faith-based organisations
  • Schools or friends of school organisations.

Who Can NOT Apply?

  • Non-constituted organisations
  • Community benefit societies.

What types of activity can be funded?

The Youth grant can be used for a diverse range of projects, including but not limited to:

  • Sport, recreation, and leisure activities
  • Music and drama
  • Street-based outreach work supporting the Our Place mobile bus provision
  • Nature and the environment
  • Digital innovation for young people
  • Mental health, wellbeing, and resilience building
  • Equipment to support activity delivery.

What CAN the grant be used for:

  • Core salary costs
  • Sessional staff costs (between £12.50 and £25 per hour, depending on expertise or personnel that may be required)
  • Existing organisational costs
  • Consultancy costs (e.g. someone delivering a cost, paid via invoice)
  • Purchasing small items of equipment for project activity
  • Capital improvements can only be made by organisations that own the building/asset
  • Encouraging volunteering
  • Building mental health, wellbeing, and resilience
  • Sport, recreation and leisure activities
  • Fund activities for young people (Our Place) including street-based outreach
  • Match funding to assist with delivery of commuted sums activity.

What the grant CAN NOT be used to fund (if you are unsure please check before applying):

  • Purchase of buildings or land, or contributions towards thereof
  • All and any financial liabilities, provisions, contingencies, donations, gifts, and credit arrangements
  • Any work on the activity prior to receiving a grant agreement – please take into consideration on project delivery timescales
  • Activities of a political nature or an exclusively religious nature
  • Activities for which the authority or its partners has a statutory obligation to provide
  • Profit-making or fundraising activities i.e. events to specifically fundraise or prizes for fundraising activities
  • Project expenditure that includes alcohol
  • Recoverable VAT
  • Activities that promote or benefit private enterprise
  • Contingency costs
  • Normal activity for churches or places of worship
  • Replacement of play park equipment or play park repairs/maintenance.

How do I apply for an Our Place – Youth Fund grant?

The call opens for full applications on Friday 29 May 2026. The deadline for applications is 12 noon on Monday, 13 July 2026. Applications will not be considered after this date. A decision on the awards for funding is expected to be made in August 2026.

All applications will be subject to a full assessment and appraisal undertaken by the East Riding Programme and Grant Management team, following which, a final panel decision will be undertaken determine if your proposed project will receive a grant award.

You must ensure all sections of your application are fully completed before submission, as any missing information may delay the processing of your application.

Applications must be submitted via our online grants management system, Flexi-Grant. If you have not previously applied to the council for grant funding via Flexi-Grant you will need to register your details. To do this please visit:
