Black/white photograph of a young woman (Women's Land Army girl) holding a bale of straw and carrying a long shafted tool over one shoulder. She has been identified as Betty Bradshaw (nee Bayes), who was born and raised at Reighton Gap, on the family farm. During the war, she worked in the Land Army at Poplar House Farm, Lelley, Preston, near Hull. The photograph was taken in 1945. Foster Brigham later won a competition using this picture. Mrs Bradshaw later recalled that Brigham was "a precise man, who knew just what he wanted." Card mounted. By the well-known Bridlington photographer William Foster Brigham.
