Description:

Two lead(?) medals, copper coloured surface, relating to an international agricultural exhibition in Hamburg, Germany in 1863. The obverse depicts a crowned woman on a throne, holding a wreath and a sceptre, with a plough a plough in the foreground. Agricultural produce such as wheat and grapes around her. The design is enclosed in an arched border, with the artist and engraver's details near the edge - 'H. Lorenz Fec.' and E. Steinle Inv.' Legend around the outer edge: - Internationale + Landwirthschaftliche + Ausstellung + Zu + Hamburg + 1863. The reverse has elaborate scrolls and a coat of arms, set within the same arched border as the obverse. Inscription in German - 'Der + Freien + Stadt + Hamburg + Gestiftet + Vor + Burgern' (the free state of Hamburg, presented by the Burghers).
