Leather bound notebook with a brass clasp used as a sketch pad by the artist Bernard Hale. Contains watercolour and pencil sketches of local scenes, along with pencil notes. Some of the sketches relate to finished watercolours now in the Sewerby Hall collection. Dates to the early 1860's.
